R.I.P. Ammo Guy
I needed some ammo for this weekend, so I asked one of my good friends to ask his good friend, Doug for a hookup. We were going to go half on a mass buy. He was a big collector, so he knew what to get and who to get it from.
I was out with my friend on Saturday night when he got a call from Doug. He said he would get the ammo tomorrow or Monday. I got a text late noon on Sunday, saying that Doug died. He was only 25 or 26 years of age. He passed away from a seizure. Another precious life lost at a young age. Even though I didn't really know him, it's just sad to hear. This is my tribute to the Ammo Guy.

Project: Stadium Truck
We received a container full of newly released electric stadium trucks and buggys. Since I am the marketing execute at my office, I decided to do a build on the truck. What sets these apart from our regular cars are the price and where it is made. Most quality radio controlled cars are made in Taiwan and Japan. R/C cars made in China are usually junk and toy-like. From my own testing, this truck is actually durable. I guess our Taiwanese factory taught their new China factory well. Even though I don't like to say it, but it's official, we are selling a China car. This is what it looks like:
Here's a video of it:
Not too shabby for a China car.
Even though I have most of the hop-ups on hand, I am trying to prolong the build for marketing purposes. It might be a month or so, but I will update my blog with it.

Shark Tank
I watched 3 episodes of Shark Tank on Hulu last night. It is different from The Apprentice, Pitchmen, The Big Idea, and other entrepreneur shows.
Shark Tank is the American version of Dragons Den. I first heard of Dragons Den from a person who wanted to buy my companies product. We wouldn't sell him the particular item because he wasn't a reseller. He decided to make his own version of it. His design was a lot better. However, being the amateur that he was, he thought that it would be easy. Everyone on the online forums (message boards) were hyped about it. I was the only one on the boards who shot him down. Realistically the time and costs did not add up. We were paying a person in China nickels and dimes while he was trying to produce it in the states. It was impossible to make a profitable company out of it. Plus he didn't calculate the licensing fee. Or did he not know about it? Since his project failed, he wanted to buy our product again and pitch it to the Dragons Den. We denied his request. I am guessing the venture-capitalist denied him too. (Note: It is important to do calculations thoroughly and repeatedly. Some things are not worth it.)
I admit, I am not the smartest guy and I have a lot to learn in business. However, most of the entrepreneurs (pitchers) on this show are ridiculous. They are extremely greedy without a reason. The amount of equity they offer the investors are beyond belief. Do they really think their company is worth that much? Just by looking at the overall figure and offer, you can tell if it is worth investing in or not. Most of the time, you don't even need to know what the product is. Some of the presentations are so horrible that you wonder if they actually thought it through and rehearsed it. Are you really going to go on national television to fail on something that you invented? If I'm going to put my signature behind it, it better be the pinnacle, cream of the crop. (Note: Give it 100% or don't bother. And don't be greedy.)
Ideas are always good, but from the looks of it most people can't execute. I guess that is why they are on this show. Having a good idea doesn't mean anything if you don't know how to maximize its potential. I hear some people talk about big ideas and how easy it is to get rich, but they have not shown it. In my mind I ask, "What is your track record? Show me what you are capable of." (Note: Do more, speak less. Your actions will prove your point. Be realistic. It's easier said than done.)
I like seeing peoples ideas and the way they present themselves on the show. Most of the time, I can guess what the sharks are willing to offer. I don't think the sharks offers are swayed. I believe a lot of it is fair. I would offer something similar. We'll have to see what other geniuses on this show have to present.

DJ AM: Continuous Mixing
My friend Alice shared some more of DJ AM's music. You can stream or download it here: https://www.box.net/shared/bczbp458pu . I just noticed that he is DJ'ing at the club my cousin manages. I'll have to go check it out one of these days.
Old songs get boring but add a little remix to it and you get a whole new song. Check it out:
DJ AM, Warren G, & Travis Barker - "Regulators"
Bringing it back elementary.
Travis Barker Remix Soulja Boy - "Crank That"
Very talented drummer.
The Game ft. Travis Barker - "Dope Boys"
Reppin' L.A.

The Beauty and the Beast: MMA Style
Every fairytale has a perfect ending...
This fight was not the case. The beast (Cris Cyborg Santos) gave the pretty girl a beat down. It was a straight bully ground and pound. This was no match for Gina Carano. She was not fighting back after taking continuous punches to the face. Cyborg and Big John McCarthy both agreed the referee made an excellent call by ending the fight a second before the end of round one. Carano received her first MMA lost this Saturday. I was hoping she would win but I knew it was going to be a tough one. Carano should have put up a better fight. She's still my MT champion though.
For some reason I have always been fascinated with female fights. I am not sure what it is... Maybe I like the vicious hair pulling, clothes ripping, and finger nail scratching? Girl fights are usually dirty but it is always interesting to watch.
If you missed it, catch it here:

Cold USB Coaster
Don't you hate it when cold drinks from the refrigerator turn warm within 10 minutes?
A week ago I was hanging out with my buddy Mike and Teresa at Indians. I told them about the cool bar table I sat it. They were pretty stoked about it too. Teresa found this online:
A few things I would like to critic about it just by looking at it:
First, can this item really get ice cold and create a layer of frost on the coaster? If I am going to be spending $40+ on this, it better get real cold.
Since this item uses a USB cable, will the computers power supply produce enough juice to make this coaster ice cold? Think about it... If I leave the freezer door open, the motor will be working extra hard to compensate for the loss of temperature. That should be the same as the power supply. I agree that this item is smaller, but it's technically the same concept.
For it to produce frost, doesn't it need some type of Freon or chemical?
This coaster can switch from hot to cold. Usually these 2-in-1's are not the greatest. Have you bought one of those 4-in-1 printers? A majority of those end up being junk. You are suppose to buy a machine that specializes in one task in order to maximize its potential. If these 4-in-1's were so great, ever table would have one already.

Nike SB - Today Was a Good Day
Some of you have seen a commercial of Paul Rodiguez and Ice Cube on TV, but this is the extended version.
The video features Paul Rodriguez, Ice Cube, Kobe Bryant, Eric Koston, and the great Los Angeles. This is how we do it in LA. It reminds me of the good ol' days.

Red Bull Banned
Check out this article from the TIME: http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1900849,00.html
Apparently there's a small trace of cocaine in Red Bull Cola. Yay!!!
In 2008, France uplifted a 12-year ban on Red Bull. So much heat on a little drink with a kick.
You got to admit, their sponsorship program is awesome. Their logo can be seen on F-1, extreme sports, flight lab, race cars, and more. They are very secure on the usage of their logo. Licensing is very tough to get from them. I am still trying to get one of their caps. Technically, the authentic Red Bull hats are for sponsored people only.
Time to time motocross riders write to me asking me for some type of sponsorship. I was thinking about having them take a picture of themselves with our car. (It would be a pretty cool marketing campaign. Unfortunately my budget is a bit tight this year.) And if they were sponsored by Red Bull, I was going to ask for a hat too. =)

Twins Special: Red Bull Shorts
I love Red Bull. Red Bull, Red Bull Cola, Red Bull & Goose. I love Red Bull so much that I bought these boxing shorts. They are hand made in Thailand by Twins Special and the quality is superb. Some of these Twins shorts are made to order. The writing says Muay Thai. The color is actually a dark blue, but the flash on the camera makes it look lighter. Here is a good site to buy Twins shorts: www.muaythaistuff.com. This e-commerce store is from Thailand but shipping only takes about a week. With shipping, these shorts are about $36.00 USD. I didn't have to pay any taxes, fees, or duties. Twins shorts run a bit smaller in size. I bought a medium which is tight on the waist but I can get away with a large.
This is the newest Red Bull. Its a mix of the original Red Bull with Cola. It's pretty good too but still a little pricey.
Bacchus is the Korean version of Red Bull. It's similar but not as great as the original.
We experiment with different energy drinks at my work. We tried the different Monster's, Playboy, Amp'd, Hanson's, Rockstar, an upcoming label, and more. Red Bull and the original Monster is still the best in my book.

Betel Nuts
Betel Nuts, Beatle Nuts, Beetle Nuts, Beato Nuts... (This could be a jingle.)
I've never heard or seen these until my trip to Taiwan. I got a chance to try out the betel nuts also known as "bin-lang" in Chinese. At first, I was hesitant to try it. One of my friends dared us to try it, so he went out to a street vendor and picked up a pack. My first impression was this can't be too bad. It's a green nut with a black thing in the middle and a leaf wrapped around it. I popped one in my mouth and noticed it had a semi-hard texture. After chewing it and chewing it, I noticed something was rubbing against my gums that did not feel right. It tasted like fibers and leaves. Next thing you know, all our mouths were bright orange. We looked ourselves in the mirror and just start laughing non-stop. It was pretty disgusting so we all rinsed our mouths thoroughly.
The next day my older cousin picked us up and I told him what happened. He laughed at us like we never novices. He said we bought the wrong ones and showed us to the right ones. The one he bought didn't have a leaf on the outside which was a lot better. We just sat in his beamer cruising up the mountains rotating a single cup for spitting. It was so tasty it made my mouth salivate. The spit came out a dark red instead of the bright orange. I got the light-head feeling after a minute of chewing.
There are different ways to make betel nuts and it varies by regions. The nuts itself come from a tree that looks like a coconut tree.
Check out a short documentary:

Google Power
We have all heard of the saying, "nothing is free in life." There's always a catch to the word FREE. From a consumers standpoint, almost everything from Google seems to be superior and without a charge. Most of us use free Google applications everyday from: g-mail to earth to search to news.
Eventually you won't need to install programs on your computer. All the programs will be written in script, so you can just pull up the applications you need through the web. Now that is convenient! Just download and save the files you want. It looks like Google is on track to make this happen. They have their own internet browser (Chrome) and they are coming out with an operating system soon. Google Wave should out very shortly.
Every time you log-on to a website, there's a very big chance that they are tracking every move you make. Some have even reported that their g-mail accounts have been hacked by Google. They search key words in your mail and apply it to your advertisements. Other companies have also been keeping track of your buying habits and applying it to their up sale. Many e-commerce sites have added psychologist/marketers in their payroll to see what people want. It's a new way of business. Is it unethical? It's up to you to decide.
Google keeps all of our information in a data bank to increase their power. They are keeping tabs on all of this. Just imagine with all the information they collected, how powerful they are and can be. Eventually they will know more about you then your own friends.
The G is slowly wiping out the competition. They cannot always win (ie: Froogle), but will continue to grow. Corporate America is dominating and the monopoly continues.
Google = New Big Brother?

Spray Magic
Dirty shoes? Spray Magic!
Lately I've been playing a lot in the dirt. My black skater shoes has a thick layer of dirt from riding dirt bikes and quads. This past Friday, I was at a BMX track with my Nike's. My shoes turned from white to gray. Yesterday, my New Balance shoes got dirty while hiking. I had 3 pairs of shoes to clean today.
I clean my shoes with Spray Magic. I got a hold of this bottle through an old lady who went store to store selling this product. She was about 60 years old. At first, we told her to go away but she offered to clean my rims. My rims were too expensive for this unknown chemical I was unaware of. She decided to get on her hands and knees to clean my shoes. I felt really bad. She also cleaned a stain on our carpet. I ended up buying a bottle from her. I have to admit, this stuff works good. Just dilute it with water and wipe away. She said she traveled an hour to sell this product and comes around once a year. She goes around from city to city. What a hard worker!
Before and after pictures. (Quick wipe down)
