AMEX (American Express) cards start with a #3
Visa cards start with a #4
Master cards start with a #5
Discover cards start with a #6
When ordering sites or a personnel over the phone asks you if its a Visa or Master Card, they shouldn't be working in the retail sector. I don't even bother asking people what kind of card it is. The first digit says it all.
All cards have 16 digits except AMEX. AMEX has 15 digits.
Most banks give you a renewal date of 3 years with the same expiration month. It is rare that they give you a new card number or different expiration month. When credit cards expire, I just change the expiration year to +3. Sometimes banks will only renew you two years, but I have seen up to 5 years.
Sorry... I dont work retail!
